CBD is short for cannabidiol. It is one of 113 known cannabinoids. A cannabinoid that is extracted from the cannabis plant is a phyto-cannabinoid (phyto meaning from the sun or grown from light). Cannabis plants come in 2 species either marijuana or hemp. Marijuana primarily known for the more famous psychoactive cannabinoid THC or Tetrahydrocannabinol. The hemp plant which is the cousin of the marijuana plant is known to produce high CBD and low THC.
A cannabinoid is one of a class of diverse chemical compounds that acts on cannabinoid receptors, also known as the endocannabinoid system in cells that alter neurotransmitter release in the brain.
Therefore Cannabinoids help/assist/enhance bodily functions. The body produces cannabinoids normally on its own, that are utilized by our endocannabinoid system (ECS), the body has 2 cannabinoid receptors, the CB1and CB2 which cannabinoids bind to trigger the release of neurotransmitters to regulate bodily functions.
The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a biological system that are expressed throughout the vertebrate central nervous system (including the brain) and peripheral nervous system. Cannabinoids are basically messengers in this biological system.
Hemp seed oil is a botanical lipid that is extracted from the hemp plant not necessarily containing any cannabinoids. Hemp seed oil is clear and colorless, with little flavor. It is primarily used in body care products. Industrial hemp seed oil is used in lubricants, paints, inks, fuel, and plastics. Hemp seed oil is used in the production of soaps, shampoos, detergents and as carrier oil for tinctures. The oil has a 3:1 ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 essential fatty acids.
Full spectrum oil can be a variety of cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids that are extracted from the hemp plant.
